OUR STORY
"Sirius was founded on my belief that great business are created with both good guidance and capital investment. Sirius aims to partner good businesses with the right leaders, assisting them with the right strategies, building their competence and investing in them.
I was with the Singapore Navy for 6 years after graduating from NUS Business School. My last appointment in the Navy was as Head of Navy Recruitment and Publicity. Thereafter, I worked with Pan-Asian Venture Capital Fund and joined a technology company on a management level.
I started Sirius as I felt that businesses need more than capital for success. In my experiences as a venture capitalist, I had the challenge of closing down companies and retrenching staff; but I also had the success of listing and selling companies. But at the end of the day, I felt sad that businesses had to fail and I felt that failures could be avoided if one had a good guide and investor. Thus, I started Sirius to fulfill this mission; to help and guide entrepreneurs to success and avoid pitfalls.
Having gone through many financing aspects of a business, I thought that if we could help entrepreneurs develop their plans, be a friend and partner to them, strategize their finance, and help them with capital and listing - not just by word alone, but by action, spending time and putting money into the business - it would make a difference.
I believe that doing business requires the right mindset, and should be conducted in the correct way. At Sirius, we encourage companies to add value to the lives of customers and stakeholders, and also to the community as a whole.
Running a business can be a blessing to many stakeholders, but it can also be a curse if there is cheating and fraud. We hope the people we work with will choose the right way to build the business. Once you have the right thinking, you can build great companies. Otherwise, you will build great companies that may one day collapse.
A successful business venture depends on the right mindset of its leader and the leader's willingness to learn, and seeking the right venture capitalist to grow with it."
